Service and panel upgrades
Your electrical panel feeds every circuit in your home. Many older panels were sized for a house with far fewer appliances than you have today, and some brands are known to wear out. An upgrade gives you safe capacity now and room to grow.
Signs it is time to call
Electrical problems don't wait, and neither should you
- Breakers trip often, especially when large appliances run at the same time
- Lights dim when the furnace, air conditioner, or microwave starts
- Your panel is 100 amps or less, or still uses screw-in fuses
- There are no open slots left for new circuits
- You are adding a car charger, hot tub, addition, or central air
- The panel feels warm, buzzes, or shows rust or scorch marks
What we do
- A look at your current panel and the loads you run, so the upgrade is sized right
- Permits, inspection, and coordination with your utility for the power shutoff
- A new panel with clearly labeled circuits
- Grounding and bonding brought up to current code
Questions
Service and panel upgrades: common questions
How do I know what size panel I need?
It depends on your home's size, how it is heated, and what you plan to add. Many homes move to 200 amps. We look at what you run today and what you plan to add, then recommend a size that fits.
Will my power be off during the upgrade?
Yes, for part of the day while the utility disconnects and reconnects service. We schedule it ahead of time and tell you what to expect so there are no surprises.
